Education

Currently, Michigan students rank 44th in the nation in reading. See the data here. Our students are desperate for classical education. They want to be taught again; not just entertained or babysat. Many schools across the state have been treating teachers like glorified babysitters. Teachers are more than a classroom manager. They offer support, impart knowledge, build critical thinking skills, and encourage exploration and creativity. A society that doesn’t value teachers is doomed to fail. Teachers understand their work is difficult and their hours are long. We understand the mental and emotional burden of caring for the wellbeing of dozens of students with different needs and burdens. We acknowledge that our career is a calling; and because of this, we go above and beyond, doing far more than our job description outlines.

Teachers deserve to be valued again.

The number one reason teachers stop teaching is lack of support. As your representative, I will work to ensure teachers are supported and students are educated. We have a lot of work to do. Together we can turn the tide in Michigan schools by supporting teachers and prioritizing students.

Classroom Collaboration

Fund Schools
Lansing spent 1.3 billion dollars of School Aid money intended for K-12 schools on colleges and universities. Spending School Aid money on... schools... shouldn't have to be something we debate. Casey Noce will make sure schools have the money they need to pay teachers and educate students.

Z's TO A’s CAMPAIGN

The American Academy of Pediatrics recommends that middle and high schools start no earlier than 8:30 a.m., recognizing that adolescent circadian rhythms naturally shift later during puberty. Aligning school schedules with biology is not indulgence – it is evidence-based prevention. See recommendation here.

Casey Noce's plan would push the start time of schools back till no earlier than 8:30. Northville Schools already comply with this standard. But PCEP begins at 7:25! The average student spends over 30 minutes to get ready for school plus an additional average 28 minutes of travel time. These kids need to wake up at 6am just to make it to school on time. They are falling asleep in the classroom and their physical and mental health are suffering. Adolescent brains and bodies need sleep.

NO PHONES IN SCHOOL

Casey offered pivotal testimony in favor of HB 4141 which was passed by the Michigan Legislature and signed by Governor Whitmer this winter! Read about it here!
